Double Cross • James Patterson • Book Synopsis
Little Brown & Company/ Hachette Book Group USA 2007
Alex Cross has seen it all. Starting his career on the Metro DC police force, advancing to detective, then moving up to FBI forensic psychologist. During that journey he has confronted many sociopaths, including an associate from the FBI who is now in a maximum-security prison awaiting his death.
This death row prisoner, known as the Mastermind, has many followers. His most ardent fan calls himself DCAK. While the Mastermind breaks out of prison with the help of his attorney, DCAK is flaunting his brilliance in killing to audiences throughout the Washington DC area.
Alex teams up with lead detective, Bree Stone and his long time friend and ex-partner John Sampson to track down and stop the 'performances' of DCAK. While following their leads, this team determines that the Mastermind is now in town. Their greatest fear is that the Mastermind and DCAK will work together and be a determined force to show the world that they are better and smarter than the police.
Alex Cross must outsmart this gruesome duo before his family and friends become victims.
