A Summer Affair • Elin Hilderbrand • Book Synopsis
Little Brown & Company 2008
Claire and Siobahn were best friends. Meeting as children and growing up together made them feel more like sisters. The icing on the cake was that they married the Crispin brothers, and now were sisters-in-law.
While pregnant with her fourth child and close to giving birth, Claire gives up her career as a glass blower. Her consuming passion for her art comes close to ending her life and that of her unborn child. A year later, Claire becomes restless with her life and jumps at the chance to co-chair the annual Nantucket Children's Gala. So begins Claire's affair.
That summer also brings changes to the relationship between Claire and Siobahn. When Siobahn finds out about her friends affair, she feels hurt and betrayed. To make matters worse, her own marriage is on unsteady ground.
The love between these two women is strong. Will it stand the test of time and endure the problems that are facing them...will their friendship and their marriages remain intact?
